Our winter trip to Florida began with snow the morning of our departure. Sarah was joining us this year along with Charlie. It was planned to drive down a bigger car than the Escape. The Acadia was a very comfortable drive and worked out well.

We took a couple of days to get to Melbourne. We stopped in St Augustine and toured the fort and old town district. Charlie enjoyed the walk and sitting at the patio with us for lunch.

Melbourne is about 3 hours south and we were able to check in our condo Saturday afternoon. We got the first floor corner unit with the pool very close by.

The dining room window looks to the north. We can see Cape Canaveral from this window. Unfortunately, there were no launches this year during our stay. Sandy and Sallie were busy at this table creating business plans and an online profile.

Sallie’s house is about 20 minutes from the condo. She’s cultivated quite a cozy backyard.

Even though there were no launches, we did your NASA one day. We walked through the rocket garden and then took a bus tour out to view the Vehicle Assembly Building and launch pads.

The main visitor center includes a big museum. The displays are impressive.

The weather improved noticeably during our 2 weeks. We enjoyed eating dinner on the patio several times.

We rendezvoused for lunch with Aunt Carol and Larry at Dixie Crossroads in Titusville. It was particularly nice to have Sarah along this year.

We arranged a morning kayak tour in the intercoastal near Cocoa Beach. We hoped to see some manatees but did see some interesting birds.

Near the end of our time there, we helped Sallie renovate a room. We got the room cleaned and painted. Sallie took care of flooring and furnishings after we left.

Sunrises at this beach can be glorious! We really enjoyed our time together here this year.
