Kentucky Horse Park

Sallie was moving from Melbourne to Lexington at the beginning of September. We went to Lexington to greet her and stayed at the Kentucky Horse Park, a state park that is headquarters for several horse organizations. The campground is large and nice. However, there was some rain for us and we unfortunately were in a gully that had runoff through our site. There are bike trails from the campground over to the park and even down into Lexington (9 miles). The trails are not flat and were enough for us just to get around the Park.

They keep many breeds of horses at the Park and put on demonstrations throughout the day which were very enlightening to a non-horse person. Several retired Kentucky Derby winners are now boarded here as they no longer are breeding.

We drove directly from Lexington to Round Lake for Family Camp weekend. We made some new friends during the weekend and had the great news of Pierce being born on Saturday. Sandy was just able to get to Akron in time to accompany them to the hospital (although she was not allowed inside). Sunday evening concluded with a Galilee service from the lake.
